What is a Spartan
"The public's perception of what we do or what we stand for is drastically different than what actually takes place. I can imagine that this is probably true for many organizations. This is especially true for our football team. People are constantly writing the local papers questioning the integrity of our program. It's upsetting in so much that it questions the integrity of school officials and coaches sworn to uphold the ideals of our founder St. La Salle. What's worse, it completely nullifies the hard work, sheer grit and determination of our student athletes at De La Salle High School."

Mission Statement

The Athletic Department, guided by the traditions of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and the charism of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, Founder of the Brothers and Patron of Teachers, is committed to providing a well-rounded program for student-athletes. The Athletic Department provides the student-athlete with a program that is not only physically challenging, but one that further promotes the spiritual and academic values of Saint John Baptist de La Salle.

The Athletic Department recognizes and fosters the development of commitment, brotherhood and sportsmanship, and instills in all student-athletes a sense of pride and achievement. The Athletic Department seeks to create an environment in which all student-athletes develop a sense of self-esteem and dignity in a Christian setting that is both moral and caring.

  • Hall of Fame Inductees

    De La Salle announced today a new class of inductees to its athletic Hall of Fame. Five individuals and one team from across the generations will be recognized at a June 3, 2012, “Evening of Honor” at the school. Also presented this day will be the school’s 2012 Alumnus of the Year. The event is open to the public, and registration is open online at www.dlshs.org.

    Golf - 5/14/12 - The Falcons carded an impressive five-player score of 4-over 354 to win the team title at the NCS Division I Tournament of Champions at Castlewood Country Club's Hill Course. Dublin (383) and San Ramon Valley (387) grabbed the final two qualifying spots for next Monday's Northern California Regional Championships. De La Salle, the East Bay Athletic League tournament champion and last year's NorCal champion, had to absorb a score of 90 and finished fourth at 391. (full story)

    Track & Field - 5/12/12 - Track & Field - EBAL Championships: Amador Valley's Josh Slaton won the boys 200 meters (22.51), the 400 (49.82) and ran a leg the victorious 400 and 1600 relay teams to lead the Dons to the team title with 117 points, just ahead of De La Salle (113). (full story)

    Volleyball - 5/10/12 - The Spartan Volleyball Team has had an impressive season, going undefeated in the EBAL with a 14-0 record, winning 42 matches and losing only 3. Their overall record of 31-2 has kept them atop of the East Bay Rankings all season and should earn them the number one seed in this year's NCS Championships.

    Athletics - 5/2/12 - iBN Sports asked fans to vote for the top sports program in the nation. De La Salle came in at a very impressive #3. Considering the voting fan base is so strong in So Cal, Arizona, Texas and Florida, with their presence still on the rise in the Bay Area, it demonstrates how the De La Salle name garners so much respect across the nation.     Soccer - 4/20/12 - San Jose Earthquakes' Chris Wondolowski stays in contact with Jurgen Klinsmann, U.S. Team. The striker is off to a fast start to the MLS season and hopes to rejoin the U.S. national team, which begins World Cup qualifying in June. (complete story)
