De La Salle Baseball Flourishing in Tough EBAL
(2016-05-12) The East Bay Athletic League baseball season has been a grinder recently, even for the league champion. In the past five years, the eventual league champion has had fewer than three league losses in only one season (2013). An example of the type of 2016 season De La Salle High has produced is this fact -- the Spartans are 11-0 in league play. They wrapped up the EBAL title outright with Wednesday's 6-4 win over Foothill. But Spartans coach David Jeans doesn't read too much into that league record. (MORE)
De La Salle Gridiron Specialists Tackle 'Cinderella'
(2016-04-16) Towering head and shoulders above the rest, De La Salle varsity defensive tackle Boss Tagaloa adroitly balances a dainty serving tray, before he and defensive end Damon Wiley heed the call to "shimmy" and then launch into choreographed high kicks. The high school seniors are two of the four, good-sport recruits from the school's football team who have cameo roles in the upcoming Company production of "Cinderella." (MORE)
Spartans Defeat Seattle Vikings Rugby Club
(2016-04-04) The Varsity team defeated Seattle Vikings Rugby Club by a score of 29-14. The Man of the match for our back line was Jake Rowley, and the man of the match for our forwards was Robbie Knoll. Congratulations to the team and to our Men of the Match!
East Bay Boys Basketball Player of the Year: Jordan Ratinho, De La Salle
(2016-03-31) Jordan Ratinho was the definition of versatility this season for the De La Salle High basketball team. The 6-foot-5 Ratinho was a point guard who was an effective scorer (18.7 points per game), yet he could find the open man and crash the boards with equal proficiency. He also showed a penchant for being a shutdown defender -- for example, he limited Chino Hills' Lonzo Ball, the Naismith High School Player of the Year for boys basketball, to three points in the first half and 15 points total (eight under his average) in last Saturday's CIF Open Division state championship game. He also scored a team-high 16 points against the nation's consensus No. 1 team. (MORE)

De La Salle, Sabrina Ionescu Topped Bay Area Prep Basketball Season
(2016-03-29) Congratulations on playing a stellar half of basketball no doubt rang hollow for A.J. Kuhle and his De La Salle basketball team. But kudos are definitely in order. The Spartans, just as they promised, attacked the nation’s No. 1 team, Chino Hills, smartly, if not expertly, en route to leads of 20-14 and 30-28 after the first two quarters, while shooting 50 percent. DLS' Guerrero Driven to Succeed
(2016-03-17) Donovin Guerrero had dreamed of placing at the state tournament since his youth wrestling days, but he never thought it would happen. De La Salle Finishes Second at Mt. SAC Swimming Invite - Winterfest
(2016-03-15) Congratulations to the Swimming Team for their strong finish at the Mt. San Antonio College Swimming Invite-Winterfest, held in Walnut, CA. They set two meet records in the 200 Medley Relay (breaking our own record from last year) and the 200 freestyle (by Forrest White). They placed 2nd overall in the meet, significantly up from where they went in seeded to finish. Almost every swimmer had a season best time in at least one event, and we had some huge time drops from multiple people across the board. It's setting up to be a very exciting league as we get into more interleague meets over the next few weeks.

Final score: SRV 5, DLS 4. (MORE)

(2015-03-19) Nathan Cervantez' dream began to take shape when he was an eighth-grader: Winning a North Coast Section wrestling championship, then competing for a state title. Though he fell one overtime period short of fully attaining that dream, he ended his high school career as one of the most accomplished and highly decorated wrestlers ever at De La Salle High. (MORE)
