The Special Needs Coordinator works with faculty, students and parents to help meet the various learning needs and academic challenges within the student body.
In addition to these duties, the Special Needs Coordinator is responsible for coordinating services for our Spartan Success Program students and for students with documented learning disabilities.
Special Needs Services
- Coordinating services for students identified as having learning disabilities, including those who require classroom accommodations, learning aids (e.g. books on CD), extended time for classroom testing, and extended time on standardized tests
- Providing academic support to students identified as having learning disabilities
- Developing programs to provide academic support for students; especially the Spartan Success students

Compiling and submitting documentation for testing accommodations
- Fostering students’ social adjustment to high school and beyond through development of self-advocacy skills
- Providing support and training to faculty working with students identified as having learning disabilities
- Coordinating and administering tests and standardized tests for students requiring accommodations
- Acting as an instructional assistant for the Spartan Success Study Skills classes
- Working closely and in conjunction with the members of the Guidance Services Department
