Chris Wondolowski ’01, a forward with the San Jose Earthquakes, was last year's MVP in major league soccer and is this year's leading scorer. On May 25, Chris ("Wondo") was named to the national team that will play in World Cup competition. The news report from Chicago:

U.S. Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has named a final 23-man travel roster that will compete in the upcoming five matches that include three friendlies and the start of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Initially calling 27 players into a camp at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski was among the group named on Friday. The leading MLS goal scorer is looking to make his eighth appearance with the U.S. Men's National Team. He previously saw action in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup as well as in friendlies against Chile, Spain, Venezuela and Panama.

Chris’s team, the San Jose Earthquakes, came to the DLS campus recently to film Chris and Kevin Selby ’91 – who was his coach when he ran track for the Spartans – talking about running and sports.
