Our Calling

To Shape the Lives of Young Men through Faith, Education, Love, and Guidance…

Our History

In the Tapestry of Life, we are all Connected...

While we were founded in 1965, our history goes back more than 300 years to 17th century France. It was there that our Founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle, set in motion a vision to provide quality education to young people, regardless of whether they could afford to pay. This led to the creation of a community that came to be known as the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Today, there are more than 1,000 Lasallian educational institutions around the world.

Here in Concord, California, our faculty and staff continue to be inspired by De La Salle’s method of teaching with love, respect, and compassion. They are dedicated to giving a human and Christian education to the young men that they guide. An education that is centered on personal relationships, academic excellence, faith formation, inclusion, respect for the individual, service, and social justice.

Our Community

The Spartan Brotherhood Lasts a Lifetime...

Here at De La Salle, we know that a community of trust, care, diversity, inclusion, belonging, and exceptional character is the best environment to prepare our students to be innovative leaders that can help create a brighter future for humanity. It is important to us that all our young men know that they are valued, loved, and supported - not only by faculty and staff but also by their peers, and the Spartans that came before them.

We intentionally build upon our history to help our students understand the legacy they carry and the brotherhood they enter into. Each of our Spartans takes their Lasallian learnings and a sense of service with them when they graduate. They go on to have successful careers and meaningful lives; they lead, and they give back to their Spartan Brothers and the communities around them.

Our Learning Experience

The Pursuit of Excellence...

Excellence is deeply embedded within how De La Salle lives out its core values. We strive to help our students reach their greatest potential by enriching their cultural, intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual development. Put simply, we educate the whole person and not just the mind.

Learning happens with every interaction - not just inside the classroom, but also outside in the hallways, in our shared spaces, and on the athletic field. Our ultimate goal is to create good men who understand strong relationships, are comfortable with their emotions, and who can lead with confidence, fairness, and empathy.

Our academic programs are practical, comprehensive, challenging, diverse, and rooted in the liberal arts. They are specifically designed to equip graduates with the skills they need to deal with the rigors of even the most selective universities.

MEET OUR SPARTANS

You can’t talk about how amazing De La Salle is without discussing its academics. Sure, it is most well-known for its sports and extracurriculars, but where I think it really shines is in how dedicated the teachers are to providing a top-notch education for their students. The sheer amount of opportunities for success that is given to students cannot be understated.

Before I started at De La Salle, I said I was just going to stay quiet and get through my 4 years without being noticed. Now I’m all in. I can’t even count how many groups and projects and activities I’m involved in. My family applauds me for my level-headedness, maturity, and insight. And that is definitely a credit to De La Salle. It has given me more opportunities than I know what to do with.

Because of my teachers, coaches, and mentors at De La Salle, I have tried to share in the suffering of others, to stand up for the ideal of justice, and to center my heart in all that I do.

My Sophomore year, I had a Biology class that piqued my interest in the sciences. At the time, I wasn't taking any honors or AP classes and I regretted not taking a harder Biology course. After that, I tried my best to take more challenging courses.

AP English Language and Composition gave me an opportunity to create pieces that were not just literary analyses. Having free range in writing an argumentative essay made me realize I enjoy writing. It allowed me to be creative and express myself.

De La Salle is not just the high school my sons attend, it's a family they were born into. When my oldest was born, there was a great sense of pride and joy that he might attend De La Salle and share some of the amazing experiences I did. I can say without a doubt that De La Salle helped shape what is now my moral compass and work ethic.
