De La Salle is once again looking to bring some cheer to struggling families this Christmas by collecting toys for local children within the Bay Area. Now in its 30th year, the De La Salle Toy Drive will run from November 15 through December 15.
This year toys will be donated to Running with Love, Oakland Catholic Worker, De La Salle Academy, and Bay Area Crisis Nursery. These organizations have estimated that there are over 2,200 families that need toys for their children this holiday season. De La Salle’s goal is to collect as close to 2,200 toys as possible to help close that gap.
Between now and the end of the first semester, De La Salle students are asked to buy new, non-violent, toys for boys and girls up to the age of thirteen. Freshmen will collect toys for children aged 0-3, sophomores will collect for ages 4-7, juniors will collect for ages 8-10, and seniors will collect for ages 11-13.
Donated toys will be delivered, unwrapped, to De La Salle’s Religion class or directly to the Hofmann Student Center.
