On Tuesday, November 2, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution recognizing De La Salle High School for their continued efforts in community outreach during the 2020-21 school year, and their national recognition by Multiplying Good last month.
In the midst of the pandemic, this past school year, the De La Salle students contributed more than 49,000 hours of community service while raising over $34,000 to support charities here at home and throughout the world.
“Our main goal this past year was to create a way for all students at our school to participate in service throughout the school year, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said De La Salle Service Leadership student Carson Sebree ’22. “We are proud to say that we held eight high-impact events last year, involving hundreds of students.”

“Our school implemented a hybrid learning program and students were coming to school for a couple days each week or staying home for the whole week and taking classes on Zoom,” said fellow Spartan Fernando Flores ’22. “This made some aspects of planning service activities even more complicated since our whole student body was never on campus at the same time. But we were determined to continue our efforts to bring our school together in service.”
The De La Salle’s Students In Action Club started 13 years ago with the mission to help De La Salle students get involved in community service. De La Salle students have completed more than 500,000 volunteer service hours, impacting more than 50,000 people, and have raised more than $150,000 for charitable causes since the program began.
In June, and for the first time in the club’s history, De La Salle High School was honored by Multiplying Good as the San Francisco Bay Area’s Students in Action Ambassador School. In September, the school received national recognition as the organization named De La Salle as its national Student Choice Award winner.
