Concord, Calif. – De La Salle High School junior, Isaiah Daco has been chosen to participate in this summer’s American Legion California Boys & Girls State Program (formerly Boys State). Isaiah submitted an application and interviewed with American Legion members of Post 331, and was selected as one of six juniors from four local high schools to participate in the conference, representing the Pleasant Hill delegation.
Boys & Girls State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. high-school students. A participatory program in which students become part of the operation of local, county, and state government, Boys State was founded in 1935 to counter the socialism-inspired Young Pioneer Camps. The conference offers a hands-on, realistic experience in civic responsibility to juniors prior to entering their senior year of high school.
