De La Salle’s Annual Cereal Drive Starts October 3, Ends October 21

Fall is here and that means it’s time for our 22nd Annual Cereal Drive. This year we will once again be collecting cereal boxes for Monument Crisis Center in Concord. Monument Crisis Center is a non-profit resource for low-income families in Central and East Contra Costa County.

Through the support of our De La Salle community, De La Salle students are hoping to collect 5,000 boxes of cereal. That will equate to 5,000 more students in Contra Costa County being able to enjoy breakfast each morning.

Today, Save the Children estimates that 17 million children struggle with hunger in America. That is 6 million more than before the pandemic. In California, while the wealthiest of families have enough to eat, half of the poorest do not. This problem will only get worse with rising inflation.

De La Salle’s Cereal Drive will run from October 3rd through October 21st. To participate, donations can either be dropped off at the Hofmann Center before school, or students can deliver cereal boxes to their 6th period teacher.

The De La Salle community can also donate directly through PayPal.

As an incentive to students, the 6th period class with the most donations each week will receive some yummy Outtakes goodies from Mrs. Wendy Aliotti and our amazing Cafeteria crew.

The De La Salle Cereal Drive is an initiative led by the Service Leadership class. It was founded 22 years ago by De La Salle Science teacher, Viki Acquistapace.
