Visual Arts

Our Art department offers a variety of courses across multiple disciplines so as to meet the artistic needs and interests of our students. For those new to Art, we have an introductory course that enables students to explore a variety of artists, art processes, and materials, and build a basic vocabulary of art and design. During the course, students will make art with pencil, charcoal, ink, printmaking, three-dimensional design, technical drawing, and digital art.

For students looking to specialize, we offer two levels of animation and painting courses, as well as an applied filmmaking class. We also work with Carondelet High School to offer a Photo and Film class, and an AP Drawing and AP 2D Art and Design class. Lastly, students interested in exploring the history of art across the globe have the opportunity to take our AP Art History class.

No matter the chosen field, all of our art classes provide a setting for students to immerse themselves in the creative process and participate in visual thinking activities that help them gain confidence and a deeper knowledge of artistic theories. Our curriculum is focused on self-expression and growth and we encourage our students to take risks and approach art with curiosity, creativity, and an open mind.
