This year, Larry Colon, director of the De La Salle/Carondelet instrumental music program, will conduct the week of rehearsals.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Hours of Camp?
DLS Summer Camps generally start each morning at 8:30 am, and end at either 11:30 or 12:30. There are some camps however, that start in the afternoon, such as 1:00 or 3:00. Please check under each camp description, for the exact start and finish times. CAMPS RUN M-T-W & TH. There is no camp on Fridays.
- Is snack or lunch included in our camp fees?
DLS campers are asked to pack their own daily snack and a water bottle. We advise campers to avoid bringing snacks that can affect allergy prone campers, such as peanuts or tree nuts. Lunch can be added to your camp registration, on a weekly basis for $44.00. If you did not do pre-pay option and you wish to purchase lunch on a daily basis, cash, credit card or Apple Pay are accepted in the cafeteria and the cost is $7-$11. Snacks CANNOT be purchased during the camp sessions.
- Where do I drop off my camper in the morning? Do I need to walk him/her to their camp group?
DLS campers are dropped off at the doors to the LAPC, on the Treat Blvd side of the gymnasium. Please look for our large “Entrance” signs, placed on our sidewalks. You do not need to escort your camper to their camp group. Each morning, we will greet each camper, direct them back to their sign-in table, where they will receive their daily name tag. Each camper is then able to walk to their respective camp with their camp friends and/or counselors. An informational email will be sent a week prior to your camp with a campus map and where to park.
- Can parents stay and watch camp?
Summer camp is a wonderful time for campers to gain and grow a sense of independence and confidence. We provide a huge camp staff on campus to supervise and coach your camper. Parents are welcome to walk their camper to their check-in table , and to their respective camp on the first day, but we highly encourage you to let your camper participate in camp on their own. As much as we love to see our children at camp, we must understand that for security purposes, we cannot have ‘non-staff” roaming the campus unsupervised, without nametags and security clearance. Should there be special circumstances, please speak with camp staff. Most of the camps will hold a brief award ceremony at the end of the week, which parents can attend, and take photos.
- Do you offer extended care after camp if we cannot pick up our camper on time?
DLS Summer Camps offers an extended care program that you may sign up for IN ADVANCE. This is not a drop in program. You can sign up for 1-hr block or 2-hr block, online, with your registration. Please remember, that if signing up for extended care, you will need to purchase the lunch package, or pack them a lunch.
- Is extended care similar to DLS Summer Camp?
No, extended care is more like school daycare. The campers have “free time” to play outside, color, play board games etc. We do not schedule activities. Aftercare is simply a service that we provide for any families that perhaps cannot get to pick-up at the prescribed time, or perhaps have a younger camper done at 11:30, but an older camper dome at 12:30. We can walk them to the cafeteria for lunch, and then some free play until you arrive. The program is best suited for our “junior” campers, who enjoy free play outside or enjoy board games with friends. History tells us that the middle schoolers do not enjoy extended care and we have very few in that age group participate. Our extended care program is supervised by an experienced after school care supervisor who has been with De La Salle Camps.
- Who directs our summer camps?
Camp directors are varsity coaches or De La Salle teachers on campus. These directors are supported by other coaching staff members or teachers. Some camps will also have student volunteers at camp. We maintain approximately an 8:1 camper to coach ratio.
- What should my camper wear to camp?
We suggest a pair of shorts and a comfortable t-shirt. Each camper will receive an official DLS Summer Camp t-shirt, during their week at camp, and we ask that EVERYONE wear that shirt on Thursday, our picture day. It can be chilly in the mornings,so please dress them in a sweatshirt, and please make sure that all sweatshirts ( and water bottles) are clearly marked with their name. Please make sure that all campers wear closed toed tennis shoes. Sandals and flip flops are not allowed. Some camps may vary.
- My camper cannot find their expensive water bottle after camp today. What do we do ?
First, we highly suggest that you leave the expensive water bottles at home. Send your camper with something that does the job, but not a crisis if lost. Secondly, put an identifying sticker or write their name clearly on their belongings. Please label everything brought to camp. And finally, we do have a lost and found. Please check the lost and found at the end of the week if your camper lost an item.
- My child has asthma, or severe allergies and requires an epipen or inhaler. Can you accommodate this?
Yes, one of our camp coordinators, Miss Valerie Ennis, is a Registered Nurse, and she maintains all of the camper medications. If you can medicate campers prior to camp, or after camp, we greatly appreciate it. In an emergency, Miss Val will administer inhalers, epipens or prescribed medication.
If your question hasn't been answered above, you can always email camps@dlshs.org.
