De La Salle Winter Sports Update

The winter sports season for De La Salle High School is coming to an exciting end and includes some great finishes for the Spartans’ basketball, soccer, and wrestling programs. Basketball won the East Bay Athletic League title and will now play in the NorCal Open Division Playoffs, the wrestling program captured EBAL, North Coast Section Dual and Individual championships, and the De La Salle soccer team captured EBAL and NCS championships and will start CIF NorCal Playoffs on Tuesday.

The De La Salle wrestling program had a great performance at the 2022 CIF State Wrestling Championships this past weekend, finishing 16th overall in the state, which was the best finish for any school in the North Coast Section. Of the nine Spartans that advanced to the state championships, two wrestlers posted medalist finishes, as Gavin Fernandez ‘23 placed fourth in the 152-pound weight class and Aidan Roe finished sixth overall in the 285 weight class. Click here to see the final 2022 CIF Wrestling Championship results.

The De La Salle basketball team suffered a heartbreaking 51-50 loss to Campolindo in the North Coast Section Open Division Boys Basketball Championship game on Friday night. The Spartans’ season will continue with a CIF NorCal Open Division Playoffs on Wednesday, March 2, when No. 4 seeded De La Salle hosts No. 5 Archbishop Riordan at 6 p.m. Click here for the CIF NorCal Open Division Playoff Bracket.

Congratulations to the De La Salle soccer program on winning the 2022 NCS Division I Boys Soccer Championship on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Montgomery. Following the program’s 14th NCS championship, the No. 3-seeded Spartans will host Sanger on Tuesday (3/1) at 7 p.m. at Owen Owens Field in the NorCal Division I Soccer Championships. Click here to view the NorCal Soccer Championship Bracket.
