BREADCRUMB

California Scholarship Federation

The De La Salle Chapter #918 of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) is part of the statewide organization. The main objective of this organization is to recognize aspiring, young citizens of California who possess outstanding standards in academic scholarship, community service, and citizenship. Membership is on a semester basis based on grades earned from the previous semester. Eligible students must apply each semester. The application is made available through Schoology post from CSF Moderator, Mrs. Byrne, a few weeks into each new semester. Once the application is available, students have two weeks to submit.

Seniors can obtain CSF Life Membership, also known as CSF Sealbearer, and receive recognition at graduation. Special recognition includes a CSF Sealbearer pin to be worn at the ceremony, a special designation on their diploma and transcript. To achieve CSF Sealbearer status, a student must be an eligible member for at least 4 semesters (10-12th grade), including at least one (1) semester with grades earned in 12th grade. For more information, visit the California Scholarship Federation website.

De La Salle High School CSF Chapter 918
Spring 2024 Membership

Congratulations to the 171 Spartans who earned membership (11th and 12th graders) or associate membership (9th and 10th graders) for CSF Spring 2024!

CSF Application

CSF's purpose is to recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, and students must apply every semester. Membership is based on qualifying grades that are earned each semester. Applications are opened online in January and September, and students have two weeks to apply. No late submissions are allowed.

Students should refer to the approved courses list below to determine if they are eligible for CSF membership.

  • Students must have a minimum of 10 points.

  • The first four (4) points must be from LIST I of the approved courses list

  • The first seven (7) points must be from LIST I plus List II of the approved courses list

  • The remaining points may come from any list (I, II, or III).

  • ONLY five (5) courses in total can be used to qualify. (Please do not list more than five courses).

  • No CSF points are given for physical education, courses taken in lieu of physical education, subjects repeated to improve a grade, TA courses, or courses taken on a pass/fail basis.

CSF points are granted as follows:
A = 3 CSF points
B = 1 CSF point
C = 0 CSF points

An additional point is granted for an A or B grade in an AP or Honors course for up to two courses ONLY. D or F grades in any course disqualify student membership at this time.

NOTE: An important aspect of membership in De La Salle’s chapter of the CSF is the student’s ability to be responsible and accountable for their own academic organization and success. Because of this, access to the application and information is only open to student e-mail addresses. We expect the student, not their parents, to be responsible for completing and submitting their own application.

 If your student needs help with this process, please have them contact Linda Byrne at byrnel@dlshs.org

Annual Fundraiser

Each year our students work on an annual fundraiser, as part of a state-wide CSF effort, and use the proceeds to support a local philanthropic organization. Last year, they worked with Panda Express to raise funds for the Bay Area Crisis Nursery's Adopt a Family for the Holidays program. Thanks to the generosity of our community, along with donations from CSF member families and the De La Salle faculty and staff, we were able to purchase everything on the family's holiday wish list.
